Itinerary
Arrive in Guwahti airport, report to coach and proceed to Tezpur - is an ancient city on the banks of the river Brahmaputra.
Proceed to Bomdlia. Arrive at Bomdila in the evening. Visit craft center, where very fine wooden carpets of colourful designs and Masks are produced. Bomdila also offers a Bird's eye view of Kangto and Gorichen peaks (highest peaks in the state) amidst the Himalayan landscape and snow clad ranges.
Proceed to Tawang. Arrive at Tawang – known for largest monastery in India and second largest in the world after the Potala Palace in Lhasa.
Visit Tawang Ganden Namgyal Lhaste. Popularly known as the Tawang or Gompa Monastery it is a 400 years old Mahayana Sect Buddhist Monastery. The place is worth paying a visit because of the collection of huge scriptures, books, gold lettered Buddhist scriptures, images and tapestries. The18ft high gilded statue of the Buddha in the monastery complex is also worth watching. Visit Urqelling Monastery the birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama who is the only Indian to have risen to such a high position in Gelupka Sect of Buddhism so far. Enjoy shopping at The Craft Center that sells beautiful masks, hand woven carpets, jewelery in silver, coral and amber and the local dress and delightful affordable mementos.
Proceed to Bhalukpong. En-route visit Bhalukpong - a picturesque spot for angling and leisurely picnics.
Proceed to Kaziranga. Kaziranga National Park is the oldest park in Assam, on the bank of the Brahmaputra River, famous for its great Indian one – horned rhinoceros. En-route enjoy the beautiful tea estates of Assam. On arrival enjoy afternoon enjoy the exclusive Jeep safari in the western (Bagori) range of Kaziranga.
Early morning enjoy elephant safari in the national park. Later proceed to Shillong. Arrive in Shillong in the evening.
Visit Shillong Peak and Don Bosco Museum - one of the most Hitech museums in India. Later proceed to Elephant on arrival visit Naukalikai Falls - the tallest plunge waterfall in India, Seven Sisters Falls - a seven- segmented waterfall and Ram Krishna Mission.
Proceed to Shillong. On arrival visit to the famed Kamakhya Temple and enjoy the boat ride in Brahmaputra river for visiting Umananda Temple situated in a small river island in Brahmaputra.
